Police search for man after pursuit

Police are looking for a man after he crashed a car into a pond and got away from officers.

Just after 1 a.m. Saturday, a Bargersville police officer attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding near Banta and Whiteland roads.

The vehicle did not stop and instead headed south on Banta Road and west on Big Bend Road in Morgan County.

The driver missed a curve in the road, and the vehicle crashed through a guardrail and into a pond, according to the Bargersville Police Department report.

The driver then got on top of the vehicle, but refused to come to police on the shore. He jumped off the vehicle and into the water and then ran into nearby woods, the report said.

A police dog was called to search for the man, but he was not found, the report said.

Police continue to investigate and are working with police in Morgan County, Bargersville Police Det. Steve Byerly said.
