Home sales down in July, up for 2016

Local home sales were down last month but up for the year so far.

In July, 231 local homes sold, a nearly 10 percent decrease from July 2015, according to a report from Indianapolis-based F.C. Tucker Co.

But home sales remain up by nearly 7 percent, compared to the same time period in 2015, the report said. That is more than the average of 3 percent increase across central Indiana.

Across central Indiana, home sales were down 3.5 percent in July, compared to the year before, the report said.

In other central Indiana counties, home sales dropped by more than 30 percent last month.

The average sales price continues to rise, growing to $189,086 last month, a nearly 9 percent increase from the same time last year, the report said.

The local average sales price also was higher than all of central Indiana, which reached $186,696 last month, the report said.
