Boys cross-country

Rebels take part in Circle City Meet

Roncalli placed third of four teams taking part in Saturday’s Circle City Conference Meet at Brebeuf Jesuit High School.

The host Braves tallied 19 points for the win, followed by Guerin Catholic with 57. Roncalli finished with 82 points and Bishop Chatard 86.

Sophomore Nick Perkins led Roncalli with a fifth-place effort individually in a time of 16:48. Johnson County residents Neil O’Brien (11th) and Tim Miller (26th) also stood out for the Rebels.

Girls cross-country

Local teams compete at Plainfield Invite

Franklin Community with 84 points placed ninth of 12 teams at the annual Plainfield Relays on Saturday.

Noblesville won the team title with 14 points, followed by Cathedral (22), Brownsburg (34), Avon (38) and the host Quakers (45). Whiteland finished seventh overall and Greenwood 10th.

The combination of Emma Treibic/Emma Beavins came in 16th for the Grizzly Cubs, while Alexandra Boardman/Abby Burton combined to take 34th-place. Maggie Auger/Chloe Selking teamed for 38th-place and Carly Sandrock/Caroline Riessen for 43th.

Cubs record tie against Golden Bears

Franklin Community settled for a 3-3 tie at Shelbyville on Saturday to run its season record to 0-1-1.

Midfielder Owen Atkison scored a goal and contributed an assist to lead the Grizzly Cubs.

Cougars improve to 2-0 with win

Greenwood Christian Academy defeated Edgewood, 5-0, to up its season record to 2-0.

Griffin Huizinga, Ethan Chupp, Camden Peters, Danny Wilson and George Apgar scored goals for the Cougars. Recording the shutout in goal was Gabe Vessely.

Center Grove the ‘1’ at Trojan Classic

The defending Class 2A state champions defeated Brownsburg and Columbus East by identical 1-0 scores to capture its own tournament.

Center Grove goalkeeper Jacob Cooley produced a pair of shutouts. The team’s goals came from Conner Campbell in the opener and Jared Wilkerson in the title contest.

Volleyball

Trojans lose in four sets to Zionsville

Center Grove started strong against Zionsville on Saturday, but came up short against the Eagles, 16-25, 25-21, 25-11 and 25-22.

Freshmen Ashley Eck and Madison Hammill led the way for the Trojans with 17 digs and 23 assists, respectively.

Lancers pick up two wins at Henryville

Edinburgh scored a 25-23, 24-26, 15-9 victory against North Harrison and a 25-19, 25-23 conquest of Paoli at the Henryville Invitational. The Lancers played a total of four matches, losing to Hauser and Henryville.

Edinburgh’s record is now 4-2.
