BEECH GROVE
Charles A. Gearns, 96, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016. He was a resident of Beech Grove.
He was born in Indianapolis to the late James and Mary Gearns.
Charles retired from Eli Lilly where he was a plant engineering manager for 35 years.
He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a member of Holy Name Catholic Church.
Charlie was an avid Colts fan who held season tickets for more than 20 years. He also enjoyed playing golf, traveling and spending time with his family.
Charles is survived by his children, Rita (Joe) Kleemann, Beth Bush and Charles G. (Janet) Gearns; grandchildren Maureen Cunningham, Karyn Cunningham, Michelle Cunningham, Matthew Kleemann, Kelli Bush, Emily Baker and Rachel Galyan; great-grandchildren Dylan Baker, Isla Kleemann and Ciaran Kleemann; and sister, Mary Alice O’Donnell.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; and daughter, Judy Cunningham.
Visitation will be at 4 to 8 p.m. today at Little and Sons Funeral Home Beech Grove Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Holy Name Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
