James Allen Morris

FRANKLIN

James Allen Morris, 66, passed away Monday, Aug. 15, 2016, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Franklin.

He was born on May 26, 1950, in Johnson County, to James Samuel and Gladys Evelyn (Shingleton) Morris.

He is survived by one brother, Phillip Wayne (Juanita) Morris; one sister, Brenda Kay (Steve) Oaks; nieces, Jessica, Betsy, Melissa and Stephanie; two aunts, Jean Harrell and Mildred Shoots; several great-nieces and great-nephews, and many cousins. He was preceded in passing by his parents.

Jim was a 1968 graduate of Franklin Community High School and received an associate’s degree from Ivy Tech in computer technology. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served from June 1974 to June 1978, serving during the Vietnam War.

He was employed as a supervisor at Allied Signal Technologies in Franklin for several years. He later was employed by Sunoco in Edinburgh as a press operator.

He was a member of the Franklin American Legion Post No. 205. Jim enjoyed reading, loved his cats and was an avid motorcycle rider with his lifelong friend, Louis Richardson.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1415 North Gate Road, Madison. Military honors will be conducted.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Children’s Miracle Network, Riley Hospital for Children, 705 Riley Hospital Drive, Indianapolis, IN  46202.
