Girls golf

Lamey picks up medalist honors

Franklin Community scored a 195 to win a triangular meet against Avon (211) and Greenwood (218) at Prestwick Country Club on Tuesday.

Woodmen golfer Julianna Lamey won medalist honors with a 46.

Also for Greenwood, Christina Challman shot 54 and Bridget Lindstrom a 58. Isabell Hunt finished with a 60 and Kinley Mahan a 62.

The Woodmen travel to Otter Creek Golf Course today to play against Columbus East.

Volleyball

Braves defeat Waldron

Indian Creek defeated Waldron on Tuesday, 25-16, 25-21, 25-14, behind Malea Brownfield’s 54 assists and 12 digs from Tori Travers.

The Braves received 10 digs and four kills from Sara Knight. Taylor Burkett and Brittany Dugan chipped in five and four kills, respectively.

Boys tennis

Warriors fall short against New Palestine

Whiteland opened the season Tuesday with a 3-2 loss to New Palestine.

The Warriors’ points were scored by No. 2 singles player Adam Zeitlow and at No. 3 singles with sophomore Corey Ullrich.

Zeitlow, a senior, defeated Carson Gavin, 6-4, 6-3. Ullrich downed New Pal’s Patrick Heffernan, 6-4, 5-7, 6-3.

Whiteland (0-1) returns to action today when it hosts Ben Davis.
