John C. Pease

MICHIGAN CITY

John C. Pease, 87, Michigan City, passed away Friday, Aug. 12, 2016, at 5:45 p.m. in Hospice Franciscan St. Anthony Health – Michigan City.

He was born May 25, 1929, in Elkhart, Indiana to the late George C. and Helen M. (Gould) Pease. On March 9, 1954, in Berrien Springs, Michigan, he married Barbara D. Skinner, who preceded Sept. 22, 2008.

Surviving are three sons, Michael (Robin) Pease of Trail Creek, Randall (Holly) Pease of Franklin, and Timothy (Linda of Anderson) Pease of Mishawaka; two grandchildren, Matthew (Kristine) Pease of Trail Creek and Dustin (Kenzie) Heuchan of Franklin; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sally Andrews of Santa Claus and Mary Lou Rogers of Elkhart.

John retired after 35 years as a pharmaceutical sales rep. for Merck Co. Mfg. Inc.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council and trustee.

He was a past president of the Toastmasters Club, a Cubmaster at Edgewood School, a board member of the La Porte Council on Aging, charter member and past president of the Rogers High School Booster Club, past president of the Optimist Club, Michigan City Exchange Club, Elks Lodge No. 432, American Legion Skwiat Post 451, 76er’s Golf League, senior center, Washington Park, a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge 183 Kane in Elkhart, Scottish Rite, South Bend Orak Shriner’s, Michigan City, a summer festival volunteer and chairman of the Exchange Clubs Day in Court for 20 years.

John enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling to national parks and traveling around the world.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 818 Franklin St., Michigan City, with Pastor Mark Reshan officiating. Burial will follow at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
