Teena (De Boer) Rodenhuis

Teena (De Boer) Rodenhuis, 86, passed away Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016, in Shelbyville. She was a resident of Needham.

She was born on Dec. 5, 1929, in Joure, Holland to Wiebe De Boer and Janke (De Jong) De Boer.

She married John Rodenhuis on March 19, 1953. He preceded her in passing in May 1994.

Teena is survived by their two sons, Charles John (Denise) Rodenhuis of Needham and Jeff (Janie) Rodenhuis of Morristown; grandchildren, Christan (Devin) Shaw, Eric Rodenhuis, Jill (Derick) Fordice, Ashley (Tyler) Gieseking and Mary Rodenhuis; three great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Chase Fordice and Presley Rodenhuis; and three stepgreat-grandchildren, Gavin, Garrett, and Sienna Shaw.

She was preceded in passing by her parents; husband, John; and siblings, Douwe De Boer, Herman De Boer, Minnie De Boer Rinske De Jong, Alice Schroeder, Andy De Boer, Klaas De Boer and Nene De Jong.

Teena was a homemaker. She and her husband John farmed in Johnson County for several years.

She was a former member of the Johnson County Homemakers Club.

Teena was an avid bowler. In early 2000, she was the Indiana State Senior Citizen Bowling Champion.

A celebration of Teena’s life will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the service time Sunday at the funeral home. A private family burial will be held at Second Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Franklin.
