Man injured in wreck on State Road 135

A Trafalgar man was seriously injured when his vehicle struck a dump truck on State Road 135, and he had to be flown to an Indianapolis hospital.

The accident happened just before 4:30 p.m. Monday on State Road 135, near County Road 450W, just outside Trafalgar.

Witnesses told police that a vehicle heading east on State Road 135 went across the center line, striking the side of a dump truck, before flipping and landing in the middle of the road, according to the accident report from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

Stephen A. Hensley, 48, Trafalgar, was trapped inside his vehicle and had to be cut out by emergency workers. He had a serious leg injury and was taken to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital by medical helicopter.

Hensley told police he did not remember how the accident happened, the report said.

The driver of the dump truck, Michael S. Purdy, 50, Morgantown, was not injured.

Hensley was listed in fair condition at the hospital on Tuesday.
