Jesse C. Poindexter, age 60, passed away Saturday evening, Aug. 6, 2016, at Columbus Regional Hospital. He was a resident of Nashville.
He will be remembered for his talent in music and his ability to play anything with strings and do it well. Jesse could sing a country ballad and switch up and rock the stage. He had talent beyond belief and was loved by everyone. Jesse will be missed by all those who knew him.
Jesse was born on Sept. 3, 1955, in Beech Grove, to the late Jesse C. and Georgia (Dyer) Poindexter. He retired in 2012 as a Pawn Broker for Tomcats Pawn Shop in Bloomington after 20 years of service. Prior to that, he owned and operated JC Construction Company.
Jesse was a member of many bands through the years. Most recently, he was a member of the band Barn Damage. Jesse enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, especially Hagan, whom was his everyday companion and the love of his life. Jesse also enjoyed fishing and hunting in Wisconsin.
He is survived by his wife, LaVaughn Callon of Nashville; children, Alicia (Matt) Taylor of Brown County, Amanda (Christopher) Parson of Franklin, Sarah (Josh Fox) Callon of Brown County, Kimberly (Chuck) Harper of Beech Grove, Kristina (Tony) Dunn of Nineveh, Charity (Johnny) White of Morgantown, David (Nayoung) Choi of Indianapolis, Amanda (Brad) Cooper of Nashville, Elizabeth (Joey Hall) Choi of Greenwood and Rebekah (Matt) Choi Ramsey of Fairland; siblings, Tonya Poindexter of Indianapolis, Tammy Arthur of Greenwood, Lanny Poindexter of California and Terry Poindexter of Morgantown; 18 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Jesse was preceded in death by siblings, Allen Poindexter and Larry Scott.
A funeral service will be at 3 p.m.Tuesday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St., Morgantown. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Nashville.
