To the editor:
Glenn and Becky Haveman would like to thank Mary M.Q. Holeman of Greenwood for writing a very nice letter about her memories of our orchard, the Whiteland Orchard at 5559 N. Graham Road.
We would like to inform Mary and the community that we have not closed and have no plans of closing.
Since 1933, Whiteland Orchard has been a part of the community, and will continue to do so. We are open every spring with garden seeds and bedding plants, and fall with apples and cider, as well as fresh produce during the summer.
We have supported several groups at Clark-Pleasant Community Schools through the years, including the football team, choir, FFA and the Clark fall festival — besides serving on task forces for the corporation.
Fresh produce has been provided to the Interchurch Food Pantry, senior services and churches who provide free meals to those in need. This year, we have added Dancing with the Johnson County Stars by supporting Johnson County 4-H, and we plan to continue to support the Johnson County fair livestock auction.
