Pair of bridges set to close next week

Starting next week, two bridges in southern Johnson County will close for construction.

On Monday, the state will close the bridge over the Big Blue River on State Road 252, about a half mile east of U.S. 31 near Edinburgh, and also will close the bridge over Stotts Creek on State Road 44, about a tenth of a mile west of State Road 135, according to a news release from the Indiana Department of Transportation.

Both bridges will be closed for up to two weeks while crews repave the surface of each bridge.

Detour routes for the State Road 252 bridge include U.S. 31 and Interstate 65. Detour routes for the State Road 44 bridge include State Road 37, State Road 252 and State Road 135.

The work is going on at the same time crews are resurfacing the bridges over the Big Blue River on U.S. 31, near Edinburgh, but that route remains open during construction.

All three bridges are part of a $464,000 state project, the release said.
