FRANKLIN

Kenneth B Allen, 90, of Franklin, went home Monday, July 25, 2016, at his residence in Franklin.

He was born Feb. 20, 1926, in Meador, Kentucky to Joseph and Renie (Stovall) Allen.

He married Delcie M. (King) Allen on March 15, 1955, in Indianapolis; she survives.

He was a beloved husband, father, grand-, great- and great-great-grandfather.

He was in the U.S. Army’s 5th Infantry Division in World War II and was a Battle of the Bulge veteran.

He retired from General Motors Allison’s Gas Turbine Division in 1982 after 32 years; he retired as a CNC lathe operator. He also farmed for most of his life.

He was a member of Greenwood Bible Baptist Church in Greenwood.

He is survived by his wife Delcie (King) Allen of Franklin; children, Sharon Walker of Avon and Roger Allen (Melani) of Franklin; grandchildren, Jason Walker (Kim) of Franklin, Marci Walker (Mike), Samantha Allen (Jon), Nathan and Noah Ryan, all of Indianapolis; great-grandchildren, Lauren Walker (Cory) of Indianapolis, Caitlin Wheeler and Mackenzie Walker, both of Danville, Benjamin, Dylan, Garrett, Gavin Stewart and Dillon Rivera, all of Indianapolis; and great-great-grandchildren, Mia Brunnemer and Blakely Rivera.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Renie (Stovall) Allen; all of his brothers, Ruble, Floyd, William, Oathur, Aubrey, Carlton, Oval, sister Evelyn, and his son-in-law, Timothy McLain.

The Rev. Todd Poynter will conduct a service at 7 p.m. Friday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 U.S. 31 South (Morton Street) in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until the service time Friday at the mortuary. The Rev. Lloyd Tucker will conduct an additional service at 2 p.m. (1 p.m. Central Time) Saturday at the Chapel at Crescent Hill Cemetery on Old Glasgow Road in Scottsville, Kentucky, with full military honors to follow.
