MORGANTOWN
Lucy E. (Gatewood) Hickman, 60, passed away Friday evening, July 22, 2016. She was a resident of Morgantown.
Lucy was born Jan. 30, 1956, in Franklin, to the late James Thomas and Martha (Miller) Gatewood.
She was a 1975 graduate of Indian Creek High School and went on to receive a nursing degree from Ivy Tech Community College.
Lucy retired from nursing in 2008, after providing in-home pediatrics care for over 20 years.
Lucy is survived by her husband of 34 years, Michael L. Hickman, whom she married on June 26, 1982, at the Cottonwood Christian Church in Brown County.
She is also survived by her children, Amber Dawn Gatewood of Brown County and Michael R. Hickman of Indianapolis; sister, Ann (John) Runde of Brown County; and one grandchild, Ezekiel.
Lucy was a member of the First Christian Church of Morgantown. She was a lifetime member of H.O.G. (Harley’s Davidson Owner Group) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and enjoyed her time traveling with her husband on his Harley.
Lucy also enjoyed spending time with her family, reading mystery novels and working in her flower gardens. She will be remembered for her tasty baking, especially her cookies.
Lucy’s family will respect her wishes to be cremated with a private family service.
Cremation services have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
