Two women were arrested outside of a Center Grove area gas station after police said they were driving a stolen vehicle.
Just before 2:30 a.m. Sunday, a sheriff’s deputy checked the license plate of a vehicle parked at a gas station off State Road 135 and Smith Valley Road and learned the vehicle had been stolen in Greenfield.
Greenfield police verified the vehicle had been reported stolen Saturday night. A woman had offered to buy the vehicle from an online ad and used a fraudulent check, according to the report from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies impounded the vehicle and arrested the women inside on other charges, while Greenfield police continue to investigate the theft, the report said.
Jessica Tibby, 36, 176 Lewis Drive, Greenwood, was arrested on a charge of being a habitual traffic violator.
Amy Hansford, 41, 1414 Berry Road, Greenwood, was arrested on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both women were taken to the Johnson County jail. Tibby was held on $3,300 bond. Hansford was held on $1,200 bond.
