Timothy E. ‘Tim’ Gray

Command Sergeant Major Timothy E. “Tim” Gray (Ret) 58, passed away Wednesday morning July 20, 2016 at his home in Brown County.

Tim was born June 8, 1958, in Beech Grove, to Robert E. and Patricia A. (Pace) Gray. He was a 1976 graduate of Southport High School and went on to earn his associate’s of business and a bachelor’s degree in economics and criminal justice.

He married Cheryl L. McMahon on Dec. 22, 1979, in Indianapolis. She lovingly survives after 36 devoted years of marriage.

Tim was very proud to serve his country. He served in the United States Marine Corps, the United States Army and the United States Army Reserve, retiring in 2015 as a Command Sergeant Major after 37 years of service. Tim enjoyed working on cars and became owner and operator of TG Auto & Truck Repair since 1996.

Tim was a member of the First Christian Church of Morgantown. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Tim was a jack of all trades and will be remembered for always fixing or starting various projects around his home in Brown County. In 2008, he became certified in Conflict Resolution in all 50 states. He also raised and bred quarter horses for over 10 years.

Tim will be dearly missed by his wife, Cheryl; father, Robert “Bob” and his wife, Iris E. Gray; children, Wesley Gray of Evansville, Tiaré and her husband, Zach Wray of Nineveh, Breenna and her husband, Tim Fields of Morgantown; grandchildren, Xander Link Gray and Autumn, Landon and Drake Wray; siblings, Joseph and his wife, Tamara Gray of Greenwood, Robert and his wife, Pam Gray of Knoxville, Tennessee, Thomas “Tom” and his wife, Rea Gray of Greenwood, Tina Tryon of Greenwood, Tammy and her husband, Brad Weaver of Cape Coral, Florida, and Paul Gray of Columbus.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Patricia A. Gray.

The Rev. Burt Brock will conduct a funeral service at 6 p.m. Sunday at First Christian Church of Morgantown, 2717 S. Morgantown Road, Morgantown. Friends may call from 2 p.m. until service time at the church.

Funeral services have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown. A private graveside service will be at a later date at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
