Vehicle stolen from gas station

Police are looking for two men after a vehicle was stolen from a Center Grove area gas station.

Just after 7 a.m. Monday, sheriff’s deputies were called to the gas station near State Road 37 and Smith Valley Road, where a man reported his work van, a 2015 Chevy Access van, had been stolen, according to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report.

The man told police he had left the vehicle running while he went inside the store, and when he came out, it was gone, the report said. The man also reported that he had tools and a laptop computer inside the vehicle, the report said.

Surveillance video from the gas station shows a purple, extended cab Dodge truck in the area. One person gets out of the truck, and drives away in the work van, the report said.

Investigators suspect the vehicle could have been the same one involved in the theft of a truck from a Center Grove area home earlier this month, Sheriff Doug Cox said.

A similar looking truck was shown on surveillance video from a home in the Pebble Run neighborhood, where a truck was stolen on July 7. The resident reported the theft happened sometime between 2:30 and 4 p.m., while his wife was at the home in the 500 block of Pebble Way. The keys had been left inside the garage where the truck was parked, according to the report from the sheriff’s office.
