Earl D. Russell

INDIANAPOLIS

Earl D. Russell, 87, of Indianapolis, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016.

He was born Feb. 4, 1929, in Warren County to Charles and Esther (Throckmorton) Russell.

He married Hiland M. Russell on March 22, 1968, in Islamorada, Florida. She preceded him in death on May 6, 2008.

He was a 1947 graduate of Center Grove High School. He was a 50-year member of Greenwood Masonic Lodge No. 514, Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine, where he was a member of the motorcycle drill team, and a charter member of the Johnson County Shrine Club. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Christian Church in Greenwood. He enjoyed NASCAR racing.

He had worked in security for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for 10 years and previously had worked in demolition for Ed Zebrowski Company in Indianapolis and for his own company for over 40 years.

Survivors include his daughter, Brenda M. Dugan (Steve) of Indianapolis; a son. Jeffery E. Russell of Franklin; two grandchildren, Jennifer Dugan of Indianapolis and Jeremy Dugan (Kristen) of Durango, Colorado; three great-grandchildren, Nicholas Dugan, Ryan Dugan and Tyler Dugan; his brother, Archie Russell (JoAnn) of Indianapolis, and his caregiver, Sarah Hart of Spring Hill, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Raymond Russell and Marvin Russell. Greenwood

Masonic Lodge No.514 will conduct a masonic service at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 U.S. 31 South (Morton Street) in Franklin with a graveside to service to follow at 2 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the mortuary.
