Man arrested on burglary charge

A man was arrested after a couple’s security system alerted them someone was inside their Franklin home, police said.

Gregory D. Hunt, 43, 1707 White Oak Way, Franklin, was arrested on a charge of burglary.

The couple called police to their home on Main Street just after 4:30 p.m. Thursday when their security system alerted them someone was inside their house, and they could see a man on surveillance video inside the home, according to the Franklin Police Department report.

Officers found Hunt inside the home. He knew the couple from a business partnership and told police he had come to the home to borrow a weed trimmer, and went inside to see if anyone was home, the report said.

Both residents said they were missing pain medication, and officers found several pills in Hunt’s pocket, the report said.

The couple had installed the cameras and security system after a previous break-in, where pain medication was stolen, the report said.

Hunt was taken to the Johnson County jail, where he was held on $6,000 bond.
