Columbus hosts first-ever state gospel music convention

A first-of-its kind statewide gospel music convention will meet this weekend in Columbus.

The Indiana Gospel Music Association is hosting the inaugural Indiana State Gospel Music Convention Friday and Saturday at Westside Community Church, 124 Tipton Lakes Blvd., Columbus, 2 miles west of I-65 on State Road 46.

The Friday evening concert at 6:30 p.m. will feature 17 gospel artists. The matinee show at 2:30 p.m. Saturday will feature 15 artists. The Saturday evening concert at 7 p.m. will feature Freedom Quartet from Knoxville, Tennessee, as the headline group with two or three top groups as opening acts.

Tickets are $15 and are good for all three concerts. They are available at the Viewpoint bookstore in downtown Columbus and at the door the day of the concerts.
