Green Arthur “Junior” Settle, Jr.

INDIANAPOLIS

Green Arthur “Junior” Settle Jr., 86, of Indianapolis, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016.

He was born Jan. 7, 1930, in Williamsdale, Ohio, to the late Green A. Settle Sr. and Georgia (Ackman) Settle.

He married Margie (McDonald) Settle on Feb. 17, 1951, and she preceded him in death on July 27, 2015.

In 1948, he enlisted in the Navy, serving one year active duty and five years in the Navy Reserves. He was called back to active duty in 1953 to serve in the Korean War aboard the U.S.S. Collett and was honorably discharged in 1954.

Junior also owned and operated Settle Oil Service until he retired.

Survivors include children, Steven B. Settle of Indianapolis and DeeAnn (Larry) Gamble of Springboro, Ohio; grandchildren, Amy (Paul) Pugh, Sondra Settle, Stephanie (Todd) Simpson and their mother, Sheryl Boehle; grandchildren, Steven Green Settle, Luke Arthur (Sarah) Gamble and Zach Gamble; and great-grandchildren, Justice Pugh, Gracie Pugh, Lillian Settle, Jaden Eads, Owen Green Simpson, Layla Gamble, Harper Gamble and Noah Gamble.

He was also preceded in death by siblings, Earnest Settle, Denver, Arthur, Cecil, Ralph, Valencia Morris, Dora Knight and Harold.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon Friday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service, Stirling-Gerber Chapel, 5950 E. Thompson Road, Indianapolis, with a service to follow at noon. Burial will be at Acton Cemetery. There will be a memorial luncheon at Rocklane Christian Church immediately following the burial.
