Lois N. (Wooldridge) Smith

GREENWOOD

Lois N. (Wooldridge) Smith, 88, of Greenwood, died on Friday, July 1, 2016, at Aspen Trace in Greenwood.

She was born Sept. 6, 1927 in Jamestown, Kentucky, to Marcus and Dona (Helm) Wooldridge.

She married Charlie J. Smith on Feb. 27, 1950, in Jeffersonville; he preceded her in death Jan. 27, 2001.

She was a manager for the Cole National Key Co. in Indianapolis, having managed shops at Sears in Washington Square and Murphy’s in downtown Indianapolis.

She was a member of Southland Community Church in Greenwood, and a former member of Abundant Life Church in Indianapolis where she was involved in the nursery ministry for 30 years.

She enjoyed being around and loving children, flowers and watching the television series “Blue Bloods.”

Survivors include her children, James W. Smith of Greenwood, Brenda K. Snyder (Tim) of Greenwood; six grandchildren, Michelle Van Sickle (Ryan) of Greenwood, Elizabeth Martin (Brian) of Shelbyville, Sarah Rodriguez (Rod) of Whiteland, Alvin Milton Jr. (Missy) of Indianapolis, Leon Milton (Lori) of Plainfield and Brian Lawrence of Indianapolis; several great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Barbara A. Smith LaFollette on Dec. 20, 2008; three brothers, Woodrow Wooldridge, John Henry Wooldridge and Jesse Wooldridge; and one sister, Ruth Wooldridge Smith.

The Rev. Dean Jones will conduct a service at 1 p.m. Thursday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 U.S. 31 South (Morton Street) in Franklin. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Burial will be at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.
