Evelyn Pauline (Polly) Tarplee

GREENFIELD

Evelyn Pauline (Polly) Tarplee, 94, of Greenfield, passed peacefully at Hancock Regional Hospice on Saturday, June 25, 2016.

She was born on May 15, 1922, to Carl and Elma Louise Simpson in Wayne County.

Evelyn lived in Lawrence for 50 years and moved to Greenfield in 2010. She retired in December 1989 from the Finance Center at Fort Harrison. Evelyn worked at Camp Atterbury during World War II.

She also worked numerous other jobs at companies including Stokely Vancamp. Co., American United Life, and William H. Block Co.

Her greatest Joy was spending time with her family, baking, sewing, reading and helping other people.

Survivors include her children, Linda Hollin of Greenfield, Sandra Bowman of Columbus, Ohio and Ronald Tarplee (Sue) of Greenwood; sister, Shirley Hunter of Connersville; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rex; sister, Barbara; brothers, Robert, James and Billy; as well as her parents.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Flanner and Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m., with Danny Curry officiating. Burial will be at the New Boggstown Cemetery in Boggstown.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hancock Regional Hospice, 801 N. State St., Greenfield.
