Work to build new physician office starts

If you drive by a busy intersection along U.S. 31, you can expect to see plenty of work at a long vacant property.

Construction has started on a new Johnson Memorial Health physicians offices at the corner of Whiteland Road and U.S. 31.

The new building will replace a former grocery store, which sat vacant for years until it was torn down in February.

Recently, work started on the new building, which will house physicians offices. The new offices are set to open by the end of the year, spokesman Jeff Dutton said.

Johnson Memorial Health is also constructing another physicians’ office building further north along U.S. 31, just south of Smith Valley Road in Greenwood, which is set to open in August, Dutton said.
