Norma Lorene (Hisle) Robbins

TRAFALGAR

Norma Lorene (Hisle) Robbins, 83, of Trafalgar, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, June 25, 2016, in Franklin.

She was born April 7, 1933, to her parents Ora and Josie (McIntosh) Hisle, in Richmond, Kentucky.

Norma graduated from Clarksburg High School in Indiana.

She was married to Donald Robbins for 33 years, and they lived in Fayette, Rush and Decatur counties during their marriage.

She worked a variety of jobs in her lifetime, including in the following fields: a drugstore, restaurant, bank, retail, factory and in hospital laundry. She was a presser at a garment factory in Greensburg and a custodian at North Decatur High School. She spent one school year as an assistant cook at the Bethany Christian Mission School in Wolfe County, Kentucky.

Later in life, she worked as a foster grandparent and as a classroom assistant in both New Castle and Columbus. She also did secretarial work at Agency of Aging in Columbus.

Norma enjoyed traveling and was thrilled to go to Hawaii in 2007.

She was a faithful member of Franklin Wesleyan Church and will be greatly missed by her church family.

Norma was a resident at the Hickory Creek Healthcare facility in Franklin for eight months. Our family wishes to thank the staff for their love and compassion, for providing her with excellent care during her stay and especially, during her final illness. Norma lived a full and busy life and her friends and family loved her dearly.

Norma is survived by her five children, Donna (Terry) Miller of Trafalgar, Rocky (Diana) Robbins, Linda (David) Hall and Teresa Phillips, all of Greensburg, and Carolyn (Tom) Huber of Columbus; two sisters, Ruth (Bob) Cordell of Martinsville and Helen (Boyd) Gross of Dublin, Georgia; one brother, Ernie (Donna) Hisle of Terre Haute; a brother-in-law, Roy Beasley of Connersville; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ora and Josie Hisle; her baby brother, Donald Hisle; three sisters, Margaret Lay, Alma Beasley and Lena Smith; a brother Ronald Hisle; sister-in-law, Lilly Hisle; brother-in-law, Tom Smith; a nephew, Michael Smith; six grandbabies; and three great-grandbabies.

The Rev. Don Neal is officiating a celebration of her life at 7 p.m. July 1 at Franklin Wesleyan Church, 230 Lynhurst St. Her family will be receiving friends and family from 6 p.m. until the time of the service.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Jessen Funeral Home, Franklin Chapel.
