Larry Gene McTarsney I, 67, passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2016, in Franklin. He was a resident of Franklin.

He was born on April 25, 1949, in Franklin to Lee Roy McTarsney Sr. and Anna Mae (Thompson) McTarsney.

He married Kathy Thomason McTarsney on July 21, 1968. She survives.

Larry also is survived by his sons, Robert Lewis (Amanda) McTarsney and Ryan Michael McTarsney. Also surviving are grandchildren, Lisa Michelle, Kristina Marie, Joseph O., II, Samantha Paige, Allison Jayde, Robert Lewis, II, Nevaeh Dawn, Larry Gene, III and Rachel Liberty; and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are siblings, Michael Lynn (Melanie) McTarsney, Morris (Sheila) McTarsney, Helen (Bruce) Throckmorton, Anna Faye (Rob) Critney, Sherman Carter McTarsney and David (Bellame) Farrell; and daughters-in-law, Beverly McTarsney and Cristy McTarsney.

He was preceded in passing by his parents; sons, Larry Gene, II, Michael Wayne and Joseph O. McTarsney, I; and brothers, Lee Roy, Jr. and Anthony “Tony” McTarsney.

He attended school in Franklin.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War. Larry received a Purple Heart. He later enlisted in the U.S. Navy.

Larry was a truck driver.

He was a former member of the American Legion.

Larry enjoyed fishing.

A celebration of Larry’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
