J.B. Denton

INDIANAPOLIS

J.B. Denton, 82, of Indianapolis, passed away Monday, June 20, 2016.

He was born Jan. 14, 1934, in Monroe County, Kentucky to Willie O. and Verta Lou (Rhoton) Denton.

J.B. retired from General Motors Allison Division after 28 years of service.

He was a member of the Wesleyan Church and was involved in Frankfort Camp Ministries.

J.B. enjoyed gardening, his flowers, and he was quite the handyman.

J.B. is survived by his loving wife, Mary (Branning) Denton; daughters, Rhonda (Phil) Foley and Cynthia (Jim) Honeycutt; stepdaughters, Shelley (Lynn) Johnson and Laura (John) Riester; brother, Frank (Mary) Denton; sister, Alma (John) Miles; grandchildren, Ben (Jessica), Aaron (D) and Leah Evilsizer, and Mimi (John) Smallwood; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harold, Paul, Bill, Radford and Noel, and sisters, Edna, Marie and Ann.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour before the service Friday at Simplicity Funeral & Cremation Care, 7520 Madison Ave. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Rick Mathews officiating. Burial will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Greenwood.
