Esther Ciesielczyk Barnes

Esther Ciesielczyk Barnes, 88, of Greenwood, formerly of Milwaukee, passed away Monday, June 20, 2016.

She was born Aug. 12, 1927, in Chicago, to Paul and Margaret Ciesielczyk. Esther came from a family of 12 — eight sisters and three brothers.

In 1947 Esther moved to Indianapolis and lived with her sister, Sylvia. Here she was employed at Western Electric and RCA.

She met Thomas B. Barnes, and they were married July 1, 1949. She was a devoted wife for 50 years.

She was a proud mother of two children and she enjoyed the company of her family.

She loved gardening and was also an excellent seamstress. Esther had a talent with crafts and was a wonderful artist. She and Thomas went to local craft shows in the 1980s and ’90s.

Esther was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas B. Barnes in 1999; her parents; and daughter-in-law, Carla Barnes.

She is survived by her children, Karen Barnes Fix and Barry Barnes; and her grandson, Ryan Fix.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood. A graveside service will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
