Motorcyclist injured in crash on State Road 135

A man riding a motorcycle was seriously injured in an accident on State Road 135 on Tuesday afternoon.

The accident was so severe that emergency workers from the White River Township Fire and Greenwood Police departments considered calling a medical helicopter. Emergency workers decided to rush the man to the hospital in the ambulance instead to avoid wasting any time waiting on the helicopter because of the severity of his condition, White River Township Fire Chief Jeremy Pell said.

The man was not wearing a helmet, Pell said. He was taken to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in serious condition.

Westbound Main Street approaching State Road 135, and northbound lanes of State Road 135 approaching Main Street were closed for almost two hours after the crash, Greenwood assistant police chief Matt Fillenwarth said.

Police are investigating the accident, Fillenwarth said.

The man’s name was not released Tuesday evening.
