Ray Ivan Browning Sr., 96, of Greenwood, formerly of Nashville, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2016.

Ray was born July 25, 1919, in Zionsville, to the late Nelson Huston and Mary Isabel Pearcy Browning.

Ray served in the United States Army from 1940 to 1941 and 1942 to 1943. He worked for RCA in Indianapolis, Navy Base in Florida, then moved back to Indianapolis to work for RCA and retired from Naval Avionics in Indianapolis.

He was a 60 year member of Harry Jackson Lodge #314 F&AM in Lynn Haven, Florida, Scottish Rite and the Murat Shrine in Indianapolis.

Ray was a member of Glenns Valley Methodist Church, Lynn Haven Presbyterian Church and Nashville United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Orla Vail Browning; son, Ray Ivan Browning Jr.; grandson; two brothers  and four sisters.

Ray is survived by a daughter, Teresa J. (William) Baldwin; daughter in-law, Terry Browning; grandchildren, Lisa Browning, David Browning, Jonathon Browning, Wendy Rueff, Jerry Baldwin and 11 great grandchildren.

Ray loved his farm in Brown County with his family, fishing and telling stories about his life.

A celebration of Ray’s life will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel 481 W. Main St.,with  calling from noon to service time. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to donor’s favorite charity in Ray’s name.
