Cellphone provider opens in Franklin

Cricket Wireless has opened a new store in Franklin.The company offers a variety of cellphone service plans without contracts for Samsung, HTC, Motorola, ZTE and other phones.

Store hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Senior community gets national award

Greenwood Meadows is the recipient of the Bronze Commitment to Quality Award for its dedication to improving the lives of residents through quality care.The award will be presented by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living during the organization’s annual convention in October in Nashville, Tennessee.

The National Quality Award Program is centered on the core values and criteria of the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program. The program assists providers of long-term and post-acute care services.

Greenwood Meadows, located at 1200 N. State Road 135, is operated by American Senior Communities.

Mortgage office welcomes new hire

Residential mortgage lender Ruoff Home Mortgage recently announced the addition of Jake Hemrick, senior loan officer, to the Greenwood office.Hemrick previously was a real estate broker for the past three years. He has a bachelor of science in economics from DePauw University.

The Greenwood office is located 972 Emerson Parkway, Suite C.

Golf outing set to benefit health clinic

The Franciscan Alliance Foundation’s annual golf outing is set for Aug. 24 at Eagle Creek Golf Club.The outing gets under way with a nine-hole scramble at 9 a.m. Golfers opting for 18 holes will tee it up at 1 p.m. Participants also will be offered breakfast and lunch. An awards dinner begins at 6 p.m.

Proceeds will benefit Franciscan St. Francis Health’s Neighborhood Health Center, located near Garfield Park south of downtown Indianapolis. This family medicine-centered practice is designed for families without access to affordable health care.

The center’s focus is to provide primary and preventive care as well as health education. All services are rendered on a sliding fee scale. Patients are charged only what they can afford without compromising the financial integrity of their families.

Throughout the day, various products and services donated by local individuals and businesses will be auctioned.

First Credit Union promotes employee

Financial Center First Credit Union has promoted Greenwood resident Dusty Simmons to vice president of membership development.She previously served as the credit union’s marketing campaign officer. Before joining Financial Center in 2013, she worked in various marketing roles at Old National Bank and as a marketing consultant for banks and credit unions. She has a bachelor of arts degree in journalism from Ball State University.

Simmons serves as a board member for the Indiana Military Veteran’s Hall of Fame, volunteers with The Cupboard Food Pantry of Lawrence Township and coaches youth athletics at Center Grove’s Lassie League and Mount Pleasant Christian Church.
