Irene Eleanor (Harrell) Lewis

Irene Eleanor (Harrell) Lewis, 87, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2016, in Greenwood. She was a resident of Greenwood.

She was born on Oct. 31, 1928, in York, Pennsylvania, to Elijah and Nora Harrell.

She married Benjamin Franklin Lewis on Dec. 11, 1948. He preceded her in passing on Sept. 3, 1970.

Irene is survived by five children, Roger Lee Lewis of Franklin, Diane Watkins and Benjamin Foster Lewis, both of Seymour, Marie (Jim) Connors of Greenwood and Joseph Anthony (Lorie) Lewis Sr. of York, Pennsylvania; 14 grandchildren, Tina (Allen) Feldscher, Toby Lewis, Tera Lewis, Monica (Gary) Cooper, Benjamin Lewis, Brent Lewis, Inger Russell, Jason Connors, Lisa (Michael) Ross, Justin Connors, Justin Lepley, Mikel Lewis, Joey (Monica) Lewis Jr. and Kristina (Dustin Leese) Lewis; 27 great-grandchildren and; several great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in passing by her parents; infant daughter; five brothers and four sisters.

Irene attended school in Pennsylvania.

She was employed as a manager at Dunkin Donuts for several years.

Irene was of the Nazarene faith. She loved reading her Bible and having it read to her. She enjoyed music. She was a member of the Ransford Chapter, Order of Eastern Star.

The Rev. Marion Glover will conduct a celebration of Irene’s life at noon Wednesday at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service at noon on Wednesday. Burial will be at Mooresville Cemetery in Mooresville.
