Pastor celebrating 2 decades of service
A Greenwood pastor and his wife are celebrating more than two decades of service in the community.Allen Pierce is celebrating his 25th anniversary as senior pastor of Northern Park Baptist Church in Greenwood. He and his wife, Susan, came to Northern Park in June 1991. They are the parents of 17-year-old daughter, Bethany.
The church will honor the pastor and Susan at the 10 a.m. service Sunday.
Pierce was born in Midland, Texas, and raised in Breckenridge, Texas. Susan was born in Richmond and was raised in the Connersville/Laurel area.
Upon graduation from Baptist Bible College in Missouri, they moved to Kokomo, to serve in the youth ministry of Grace Baptist Church.
When they first came to Northern Park, the church was at 607 N. Meridian St., Greenwood. Under the Pierces’ leadership, the church broke ground for the new facility in 2002 at 598 N. Meridian St., Greenwood. Services began in the new building in late 2003.
