Gladys Evelyn (Shroyer) Phillips

FRANKLIN

Gladys Evelyn (Shroyer) Phillips, 100, a longtime resident of Franklin since 1936, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2016, at the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin.

She was born June 18, 1915, in Ogilville to William A. and Flara (Carmichael) Shroyer.

She was a bookkeeper and secretary for Franklin Printing and Office Supply for 27 years.

She married Harvey Phillips on June 7, 1935; they were married for 70 years.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 439, and the First Presbyterian Church in Franklin.

She enjoyed antique shows and spending time with her family.

Gladys is survived by her granddaughter, Kimberly S. (Steven) Hood of Nineveh; sister, Betty Baxter of Columbus and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harvey Phillips in 2005, daughter, Shirley Ann Kowalski in 2004, two brothers, Dean Shroyer and Kenneth Shroyer and three sisters, Wilma and Thelma Shroyer and Ruth Dowden.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Jessen Funeral Home, Franklin Chapel, 197 E. Jefferson St., with visitation from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
