Veterans honored in Franklin garden

A memorial garden was created at Morning Pointe of Franklin for residents to pay their respects to veterans.Each cross bears the name of a former veteran resident who passed away.

The assisted living community conducted a special commemoration at the garden on Memorial Day weekend. Al Bertolacci, Morning Pointe volunteer, made the crosses for the community.

Financial planner gains insight at conference

Janette F. Koon, financial advisor with Waddell & Reed, attended the 2016 Investment News Retirement Income Summit in Chicago in early May.The conference offered seminars on various retirement-related topics such as Social Security, retirement income healthcare and ways to structure retirement portfolios.

Koon has been a professional in the financial services industry for more than 25 years. Koon joined Waddell & Reed in 1993. Her local office is at 399 N. Madison Ave., Suite 101, Greenwood.

Koon has several financial planning certifications.

Residential mortgage officer honored again

Residential mortgage lender Ruoff Home Mortgage announced that Donnie Dodson was the top loan originator for the Greenwood branch office for the month of May. The top spot in each branch office and the company is based on the number of closed loans during the month.Dodson has been with Ruoff Home Mortgage since May 2015.

Dodson works out of the Greenwood office, 972 Emerson Parkway, Suite C.

Greenwood pool, spa company gets top nod

Stewart Dixon Aquatic Services of Greenwood recently won the title of the Indy A-List’s Best Pool and Spa Services.Voters named Stewart Dixon Aquatic Services the Best Pool and Spa Services in the Indianapolis area for 2016. To determine the winner, voters had more than 20 nominees to choose from.

The Indy A-List website lets consumers vote on top companies and organizations.

Credit union gives to Ronald McDonald House

Indiana Members Credit Union recently presented a check for $4,050 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana as part of the credit union’s debit card program.The partnership allows members to show their support for Ronald McDonald House by signing up for and using a charity-themed debit card.

The card is available for issue to members at the credit union’s 24 Central Indiana locations. The Ronald McDonald House debit card is free to members with a free checking account and can be issued on the spot. Every time the card is used, the Ronald McDonald House benefits.

Hospital earns honor for eye bank efforts

Johnson Memorial Health recently received the Indiana Lions Eye Bank “Vision” award for the hospital’s commitment to the Indiana Lions Bank Donor Program.Johnson Memorial Health has an organ/tissue procurement policy that ensures all patients have the opportunity to become donors.

In 2015, Johnson Memorial Health was responsible for making a difference in the lives of nearly 20 individuals. In the last five years, about 100 people have had corneal transplants due to the efforts and the generosity of the community in and around Johnson County.
