Woman arrested after thefts from businesses

An Indianapolis woman was arrested after police were called to thefts from a hotel, retail store and restaurant in Franklin.

Shannel N. Walsman, 28, 5608 Grove Tree Court, was arrested on a charge of forgery and two counts of theft.

An employee at Relax Inn, 188 Lovers Lane, reported at 9 p.m. Tuesday that Walsman came into the business seeking a room. When the employee stepped away from the desk, surveillance video showed Walsman take money from the register. More than $100 was missing, according to a report from the Franklin Police Department.

At Dollar General, 1872 Northwood Plaza, surveillance video showed Walsman walking into the office of the store around 10 p.m. Tuesday and taking two price scanners, a phone and a stack of paper, the report said.

Two employees at the Waffle House, located at 98 Lovers Lane, reported that they were missing money and debit cards from their purses just after 3:30 a.m. Wednesday after Walsman was in the restaurant, the report said.

Police stopped a car driven by Walsman and found the missing items, debit cards with the names of the Waffle House employees and counterfeit bills, the report said.

She was arrested and taken to the Johnson County jail, where she is being held on $4,000 bond.
