Get ready for a berry good time

The White River Township Fire Department will host the 24th annual strawberry festival this weekend.

Events will take place Friday and Saturday at Sugar Grove Elementary School, 4135 West Smith Valley Road, Greenwood. Festivities begin at noon Friday and at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Strawberry shortcake desserts and hamburger, hot dog and rib-eye meals will be available for purchase both days.

Friday’s activities include antique car and fire apparatus displays, a blood drive and balloon rides beginning at 5 p.m. Live music will begin at 7 p.m.

Saturday’s activities include HAM radio demonstrations starting at 10 a.m., a Safe Kids bike rodeo at noon, Project Lifesaver demonstration at 1 p.m., a blood drive from 4:30 to 7 p.m. and demonstrations and talks about firefighting techniques throughout the day.
