GREENWOOD
Sylvia Lois (Cliburn) Wise, 92, of Greenwood, passed away Friday June 3, 2016, in Indianapolis.
Sylvia was born April 10, 1924, in Scottsville, Kentucky, to Leo and Hazel (Pitchford) Cliburn.
She married William V. Wise on Sept., 18. 1943; he preceded her in death.
Sylvia was employed with the Perry Township Schools as a secretary.
She was a past member of the First Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis; the Church of the Lakes, where she was involved in teaching Sunday school; and was most recently a member of the Friedens United Church of Christ in Indianapolis.
She enjoyed reading, cooking and camping out west in the Tetons. Her favorite television show was “Dancing with the Stars.” She was a fan of Indiana University and Indiana Pacers basketball.
Sylvia loved going to Brown County, eating at the Kopper Kettle Inn in Morristown and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her two children, Beverly Tucker of Indianapolis and Jeffrey Wise of Mooresville; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister, Mildred George.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 N. U.S. 31. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Greenwood.
