Baseball regionals resume today

The Center Grove High School baseball team will resume play at 4 p.m. today in the Class 4A Evansville Reitz Regional semifinals.

The Trojans were leading Bloomington South 1-0 with one out in the bottom of the second inning when rain halted play Saturday in the regional semifinals. The game will resume with the Trojans batting. The championship game will follow the semifinal.

Class 4A No. 9 New Albany already advanced to the final by shutting out Evansville Harrrison 5-0 on the first semifinal Saturday morning.

The Trojans scored in the first when Tye Thixton tripled and scored on Will Smithey’s sacrifice fly. Trojans senior Jacob Cantleberry started and struck out two for Center Grove (23-3).

The Class 3A Crawfordsville Regional was completely rained out Saturday. Indian Creek (17-2) will play Frankfort at 1:30 p.m. today.

Brebeuf, ranked No. 5 in Class 3A, and Northview will meet in the 11 a.m. opening semifinal. The championship game is 8 p.m.
