Vacation Bible school begins at church
Amity Baptist Church, 3597 U.S. 31 South, Franklin, will offer vacation Bible school June 6.
Children 12 and younger are invited to the event. Hours are 6 to 7:30 p.m

Nonviolence focus of southside retreat
Benedict Inn Retreat & Conference Center, 1402 Southern Ave., Beech Grove, will host a week-long, silent retreat June 19 to 25 that will focus on nonviolence through the lens of the Rule of Benedict.
It will cover a variety of topics including love, freedom, transforming violence and oppression, hospitality, celebrating life, community and reconciliation. The participants will join the monastic community for prayer and meals.
The fee is $450 and includes room, board and spiritual direction.
On July 6, the center will offer a personal retreat day.
Visitors can rest, relax, read, walk the Labyrinth and pray. The fee is $35 per person and includes a room for the day and lunch. Spiritual direction is available for an additional fee.
