Accident on State Road 37 causes power outage

Commuters heading north on State Road 37 faced delays when a car went off the road Friday morning.

Just before 7 a.m., a vehicle heading north on State Road 37 went off the road at Olive Branch Road and struck a utility pole.

The driver, Mark P. Rick, 33, Franklin, told police he was reaching for something in his car and went off the road, according to a report from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

He was not injured, the report said.

The crash led to traffic backups and power lanes hanging low that had to be repaired before semis could get through, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
