Cheap Thrills – June 2

DOUGHNUT BREAKFAST, 9 a.m., June 3, Franklin Active Adult Center, 160 E. Adams St., Franklin, celebrate National Doughnut Day. National Doughnut Day started in 1938 as a fund raiser for The Salvation Army to help the needy during the Great Depression and to honor The Salvation Army “Lassies” of World War I, who served doughnuts to soldiers. Celebrate this fun day with a variety of doughnuts. Bring your favorite doughnuts to add to the mix. For members only, Bev Bonsett, 736-3696.

HOMEGROWN TALENT: SPORTS STARS OF JOHNSON COUNTY, 6:30 p.m. June 7, Greenwood Public Library, 310 S. Meridian St., Greenwood, free, no matter what the decade, sports shape the lives of people in Johnson County as players, coaches or spectators. This Johnson County Museum of History special exhibition displays one-of-a kind memorabilia and tells the stories of some of the area’s most talented sports figures that made it to the elite levels of their sport.
