Arthur “Art” Locke Sr.

INDIANAPOLIS

Arthur “Art” Locke Sr., 75, of Indianapolis, passed away Friday, May 27, 2016.

Art was born Dec. 26, 1941.

He is survived by his wife Marla; son, Arthur (Kathi) Locke Jr. and daughter, Tambi Stewart; grandchildren, Kimberly Locke, Kellie Locke, Joshua (Rachael) Stewart; and one great-granddaughter, Raygen. He also is survived by a sister, Linda (Mike) Freeman, three brothers, Jerry (Kathy) Locke, Rick (Terry) Locke and Bob (Ronda) Locke.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald Lloyd Locke Sr. and Pauline Kinsley Locke.

Art grew up on the Indianapolis westside, and attended Ben Davis High School. He married Marla on Oct. 6, 1963, and later settled in the Camby area.

For many years Art served as an EMT for the Camby Volunteer Fire Department.

As a young man Art enjoyed drag racing his HD motorcycle.

He was a devoted husband and father and valued the time he spent with his family boating on Lake Lemon. He especially valued the time he was able to spend with his grandchildren.

For many years Art owned a long haul trucking operation along with his wife. After retiring from his own business, Art worked as a driver for his brother, Jerry at Locke Trucking in Bargersville. He will be sadly missed by his fellow drivers and many customers who enjoyed the personal service and friendship he was known for.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Family Funeral Care, 5791 Rockville Road, Indianapolis, with funeral services immediately following at 7 p.m.
