Jakie “Jake” Spencer Garrett, 82, of Franklin, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2016, in Franklin.

Jake was born April 28, 1934, in Celina, Tennessee to his parents, James Waylon and Vassie Lela (Ayers) Garrett.

He married his loving wife, Annice “Ann” D. (Evans) Garrett, in Franklin on April 23, 1983.

Jake was a U.S. Army veteran and served post-Korea from 1956 to 1958.

He worked for Arvin Industries, in Greenwood, for 42 years.

Jake enjoyed working on small engines. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed turkey shoots and riflery.

He was a past member of the Moose Lodge 2079 of Greenwood.

He is survived by his loving wife, Annnice “Ann” (Evans) Garrett of Franklin; a son, Erron (Natalie) Garrett of Upland, California; a sister, Ana (Clyde) Bowman of Indiana; three brothers, Maxey Garrett of Celina, Texas, and Carl (Bobbie) Garrett and Bruce (Lois) Garrett, both of Livingston, Tennessee; and two grandchildren, Rebecca (Brian) Friesen of Riverside, California, and Jonathan Garrett of Upland, California.

Jake was preceded in death by his parents, James Waylon and Vassie Lela (Ayers) Garrett.

Rev. John Perkins will conduct a memorial service at 6 p.m. Thursday at  Jessen Funeral Home, Franklin Chapel, 197 E. Jefferson St., Franklin. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 5635 W. 96th St., Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46278; or to the Americare Hospice Services, 1150 N. Main St., Apt. A, Franklin, IN 46131.
