Searching for fun?

Some students will learn the Bible through surfing themes and cave explorations.

Other local churches are hoping to draw families to their vacation Bible schools with pool parties, cook-outs and fish fries.

Here is a peek at some local vacation Bible schools your youngster can get involved in this summer.

The Crossing

Students can explore caving and rocks at The Crossing’s vacation Bible school.

CaveQuest is from 6 to 8:30 p.m. July 5 to 7 at the church, 8728 S. Nineveh Road, Nineveh.

Families also can attend a closing party and fish fry at 6 p.m. July 8. The church’s worship band will perform.

Fair Haven Christian Church

Youngsters can learn about the Bible in a caving and rock theme at Fair Haven Christian Church.

The vacation Bible school will be 9 to 11:30 a.m. June 20 to 24 at the church, 1476 W. County Road 300S, Franklin.

The school is open to students age four to entering fourth grade and will be filled with crafts and games.

Families are invited to a closing pool party from 7 to 10 p.m. June 24 at the Franklin Family Aquatic Center.

First Baptist Church of Greenwood

Students can go pet crazy at First Baptist Church of Greenwood’s vacation Bible school.

The school will be 9 to 11:45 a.m. June 8 and 9 at First Baptist Church of Greenwood, 99 W. Main St.

Kids will be introduced to Christian concepts and teachings at the two-day school.

Friendship Church

Families wanting to find a church event this summer can make a splash with Friendship Church in Greenwood.

The church is hosting summer break pool parties for families in the county.

A party at Freedom Springs will be 6 to 8 p.m. June 26.  A swim party at Franklin Family Aquatic Center will be 7 to 9 p.m. July 14.

The free event is open to the family.

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church’s vacation Bible school is from 9 to 11:30 a.m. June 6 to 10.

The church is at 1300 U.S. 31 South, Franklin.

Registration for children ages 3 to 12 will be at 8:30 a.m. on June 6.

Grace United Methodist Church

Youngsters can go deep sea diving and worship with their family at the park with Grace United Methodist Church.

The vacation Bible school will be 9 to 11:30 a.m. July 11 to 14 at the church, 1300 E. Adams St., Franklin.

Students can preregister at vacationbibleschool/franklingrace.

The church also will host vacation Bible school in the park from 10 a.m. to noon July 15 at Province Park in Franklin.

The park vacation Bible school is a partnership with Kick-A-Poo camp and is open to the community.

Adventure Camp for students ages 4 to 6 will be June 27 to 30 at Webb Elementary School, 1400 Webb Court, Franklin.

Mount Auburn United Methodist Church

Vacation Bible school students at Mount Auburn United Methodist Church can be submerged in scripture.

The school is from 9 a.m. to noon June 13 to 17 at the church, 3100 W.  Stones Crossing Road, Greenwood. 

Students aged 4 to 11 can attend.

Registration at mtauburnumc.org should be done by Wednesday to receive a free T-shirt.

Open Door Fellowship

The ocean-themed school will be 6 to 8 p.m. July 11 to 15 at the church, 250 14th St., Franklin.

Classes are open for any child of at least preschool age. Adult classes are part of the school as well.

Ocean crafts, food and music will be included in the curriculum.

Providence Christian Church

Students can discover the deep sea at Providence Christian Church.

Deep Sea Discovery will be from 6 to 8 p.m. June 6 to9 at the church, 4080 W. County Road 100 North, Bargersville.

Students will dive into the Bible in hands-on projects and sea science.

Rocklane Christian Church

The Rocklane Christian Church’s vacation Bible school is 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 13 to 16 at the church, 4430 Rocklane Road, Greenwood.

SS Francis and Clare

Families are encouraged to register together at SS. Francis & Clare’s vacation Bible school.

CaveQuest will be from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m. June 14 to 16 at the church, 5901 Olive Branch Road, Greenwood.

Families are encouraged to register together, and the vacation Bible school is open to adults.

St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church

Vacation Bible school-goers can learn to be soldiers for Christ at the St. Rose event from 9 a.m. to noon July 11 to 15 at the church, 114 Lancelot Drive, Franklin.

The cost is $20. Registration forms are at strosechurch.saintrose.net.

Victory Christian Church

Your students can become a cave explorer at Victory Christian Church.

The church’s school is from 9 to 11:30 a.m. June 6 to 10 at 1720 Graham Road, Franklin.

The CaveQuest theme is open to students in kindergarten through fourth grade.

A vacation Bible school for older students in fifth through eighth grade will also be included.

The younger student program is free. The Survivor-themed older student program is $10.
