Man run over at party at airport

A man was accidentally run over during a party at the Franklin Flying Field during the weekend after he fell asleep under a vehicle.

The driver was arrested after a sheriff’s deputy discovered he had been drinking, according to a report from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident happened late Saturday at the airport located south of Franklin. The man who was run over, Zachary J. Kinser, 28, Franklin, was taken by medical helicopter to Eskenazi Hospital. His condition was not available.

A band was playing in one of the hangars, and chairs were set up. Adam I. Andrews, 29, of West Palm Beach, Florida, had a couch in the bed of his truck and wanted to drive closer for a better view of the band, the report said.

Andrews didn’t know Kinser was asleep under his truck, and ran over him, the report said.

Police gave Andrews two portable breath tests, and he measured 0.082 and 0.094 percents. He was arrested on a charge of operating while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury and taken to the Johnson County jail.
