As dusk set in, the final threesome came off the course a little after 9 p.m., ending what turned out to be a very long afternoon at Timbergate Golf Course for the six local teams competing in the Johnson County Boys Golf Meet.

In the end, defending champion Center Grove successfully defended its title.

The top-ranked Trojans finished with a team score of 295, followed by Franklin (324).

Greenwood finished third with a 348, followed by Indian Creek (396), Edinburgh (426) and Whiteland (435).

Earning top medalist honors with a one-under par 71 was Center Grove junior Ethan Shepherd.

Joining Shepherd on the All-County team were Center Grove sophomore Sam Jean (72), Greenwood sophomore Eric Moenkhaus (72), Center Grove senior Tyler Rankel (75), Center Grove sophomore Noah Gillard (77) and Franklin sophomore Javan Johnson (77).

Sectional play begins June 3 at The Legends of Indiana Club. Southport is the host school.

All six local teams feed into the Southport Sectional, which also includes Beech Grove, Franklin Central, Greenwood Christian Academy, Lutheran, Perry Meridian, Roncalli and Southport.
