MARION

The Rev. Randy G. Maynard, 55, of Marion, formerly of Johnson County, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2016, at his residence.

He was born Nov. 1, 1960, in Russell Springs, Kentucky.

He married Lisa D. (Freeman) Maynard on May 5, 1984, in Fresno, California. She survives.

He was a 1979 graduate of Whiteland Community High School, Campbellsville Baptist College in Campbellsville, Kentucky, California State University in Fresno, California, and received his Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary.

He had served as pastor at Friendship Baptist Church in Franklin and Cornelia Avenue Southern Baptist Church in Fresno, California. He also had served as chaplain for the Johnson County, sheriff’s department, city of Franklin, Indiana Police Department and other Johnson County agencies.

Survivors include his loving wife Lisa D. (Freeman) Maynard of Marion; his son Jonathon Reagan Maynard of Marion; stepfather, Samuel Hale of New Whiteland; sister Teresa Goss of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; brothers Johnny Maynard (Susie), Brad Hale (Krystal) of Greenwood and Mark Hale (Shelly) of Franklin; three nephews, Grant Goss and Garret Goss, both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Johnny Maynard Jr. of Terre Haute.

He was preceded in death by his father Lowell Maynard and mother Bernice (Foley) Hale.

Randy Maynard loved God and people. It is a legacy of love that he leaves behind.

The Revs. Jeff MacNeill and Rusty Bush will conduct a service celebrating the life of the Rev. Randy G. Maynard at 2 p.m. Saturday at Friendship Baptist Church, 1600 Westview Drive, Franklin, and where the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. till service time at the church.
