Johnson County Park Memorial Day weekend

Get your fill of storytelling, s’mores and fishing during an outdoor celebration in honor of Memorial Day weekend at Johnson County Park.

At 7 p.m. Friday, the park will host “S’mores and Storytelling” at the community campfire circle in the campground. Visitors can park at the Welcome Shelter or in the lot north of the campground to take part in the free evening program, which will include stories, songs and delicious s’mores. Bring lawn chairs and your imagination.

On Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., bring a picnic lunch and a fishing pole for Lunch at the Lake. The parks will provide bait.

The program is free, but participants ages 18 and older must have a valid Indiana state fishing license. Bug spray and sunscreen is recommended.

Starting at 6 p.m. Saturday, crafters can meet in the Front Room next to the park office for Origami Hour. The free program will have a variety of nature-themed and other origami art opportunities.
