Franklin man arrested for speeding

A Franklin man was arrested after he was clocked at a speed of 133 mph on State Road 144 during rush hour.

Justin Palmer, 25, 1101 Cobra Drive, was arrested on a charge of reckless driving.

Shortly after 7 a.m. Tuesday, a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office deputy was headed east on State Road 144 toward Hopewell when he noticed a car coming from the other direction at a high speed, according to a report from the sheriff’s office.

The deputy’s radar showed the speed at 133 mph, according to the report. The deputy caught up to the vehicle and stopped it. The driver, Palmer, told the deputy he was late to work and remembered seeing 80 mph on his speedometer, according to the report.

Palmer was arrested and taken to Johnson County jail, where he was released on $1,000 bond.
